PolyGrass can help with the Santa Cruz Drought

Not only is PolyGrass a gorgeous addition to your landscape, it requires no mowing, fertilizing or weeding, a plus in the environmentally conscious Santa Cruz area.  While lawmakers are debating how to use the region’s water, your lawn could be water-free with PolyGrass.  The Santa Cruz City Water Department has declared a Stage 2 Water Shortage Warning, which means every residence and business must reduce their water usage by 15%.  PolyGrass will completely eliminate the water spent on your lawn, likely reducing your water usage by more than 15%.  The savings on your water bill will more than pay for your valuable investment in the future of water-free landscaping.

In today’s seemingly constant water shortage, it pays to have water-free landscaping that not only looks, but feels like the real thing.  PolyGrass is nothing like the fake grass from yesteryear, and its soft and lush texture will fool even the most discerning eyes.

Synthetic grass will help during the 2009 Drought and beyond!

california-drought-20091With 2 dry years behind us, 2009 with its lack of sustainable rainfall so far could very well be another drought year.  In preparation for this upcoming 2009 drought, the government has already implemented a plan to purchase water from other sources.  With this in mind, it looks like rationing will become mandatory in the upcoming summer months.   To learn more about the 2009 drought plan, click here.

Now imagine what will happen when these drought plans become reality.  The next step will be rationing, over usage penalties and price increases.  Why not invest now in the future of the state by installing synthetic grass.   If you’re like many Californians’ and you love the feel of real grass under your toes, then only do your front yard, or your back yard. Maybe you just replace that hard to upkeep area. Every bit can help not only the 2009 California drought but it can also save you money in the long run. Did you know that Traditional Lawn Costs (Average size lawn):

Water
Fertilizer, chemicals
8 Year total: $9,500

Synthetic Lawn Investment

8 Year total: $6,500

Your Savings: $3,000

What people are saying about Polygrass artificial grass

Hi Scott,

I couldn’t wait to tell you about all the comments and questions our neighbors have had today.  As you know, I am a big gardener so it is not unusual for me to be in the front yard pruning or weeding or whatever.  Lots of neighbors walk by all the time and we typically smile and nod at each other. Well today was a very different story. I was gardening for 4 hours in the front of the house and in that time almost a dozen people stopped to say “I really like it”. At first I thought they liked the flowers I was planting and there was a bit of the daughter/cow repartee like Fiddler on the Roof, but I finally got it as they started to ask lots of questions like – we have a dog and he pees on the lawn, how will that affect the polygrass? Or we have a dog and he digs up our lawn, can he do that with the polygrass? Then there were questions about gardening like – can the gophers dig through the polygrass?  Of course there were several comments about the water shortage and how this was a smart thing to do.

Anyway, I didn’t have all the answers to their questions and finally ended up giving a few of them “samples” from a remnant that Jerry had left for us. David had been pretty happy with that 2 X 12 remnant and I don’t have the heart yet to tell him about my adventures. There is a big trailer here with the polygrass name and  phone number, but these people were all walking with jogging suits on without pen and paper in hand. So I thought that if the company has a flyer or something of that nature that could be put in one of those information pockets – the way that some homes are advertized, we certainly would be willing to put it on our property. Also I thought I should ask you for some business cards and I will keep them in my garden tote so if someone asks about it in the future, I can tell them what I know and give them a card.

We are thrilled with the results and obviously our neighbors are also !

Jean

WOW, the new PolyGrass makes my back yard look amazing. Your crew was on time, communicated well and did an outstanding job on the install. It’s going to be so nice to entertain without the dirt and yard clippings getting in the pool. I was installing new sod most every year because of the dogs and am so glad we won’t have to deal with new sod and watering. I would recommend everyone upgrade their lawn!

San Jose Dog Runs – Hitachi Parks

The City of San Jose wanted a maintenance free dog park and didn’t want the dogs to be able to kill the grass. Synthetic was the only way to go. It’s a 4,000 acre park at Hitachi parks off Bernal road in San Jose. They interviewed a lot of contractors but choose PolyGrass because of our high quality turf, and the fact that we are licensed, bonded and insured. The park turned out beautifully.

More reasons for artificial grass – synthetic lawn

While saving water is very important, its not the only reason for using synthetic grass.  Here are a few more reasons to consider artificial turf:

kid-in-water1.  If you’re not watering your lawn by hand, then you must be using some sort of sprinkler system.  If you’re using one of those “attached to a garden hose” sprinklers, then you’ve probably forgot about it while watching a football game.  There’s nothing like watching the neighborhood kids playing in the new river you created for them.

2.  You have a sprinkler system but for some reason it doesn’t turn off.  A few years ago my old neighbor, who leaves for work much earlier than I do in the morning, left for work as normal.  As I was driving past her house, I noticed the river running down the street.  Being the nice neighbor I am, I shut off her sprinklers and left her a note on her door.  I probably saved her a couple hundred dollars because she comes home later than I do as well (she was a store owner).  Not to be rude, but all that water wasn’t helping that horrible looking, crab grass infested mess of a lawn.  I only wish that synthetic grass was popular back then.  I would have directed her to www.polygrass.com.

3.  You have a sprinkler system that is a hassle to keep operational.  Tired of adjusting, replacing and repairing them?  Tired of those brown spots, running to the hardware store for parts or paying a gardener to constantly fix them?  How about when the power goes off or you blew a fuse in the garage and didn’t realize it?  Theres nothing like being woken up at 1am by your sprinklers.  Oh great, now you have to figure out how to program the darn thing again.  Artificial turf, synthetic grass, fake grass, synthetic turf; whatever you want to call it, is the perfect solution.

4.  The Lawn Mower!  Someone’s gotta do it, why me?  I could write an entire blog about the lawn mower but I’ll save that one for another time.  I’m sure you have plenty of stories to tell yourselves.

Do you need Synthetic grass?

A number of you are probably wondering if your house is in need of a synthetic lawn. Many of you probably know that saving water is a very important thing to do, especially in the southwest and southeast. Americans across the country use about 8 billion gallons of water per day just on their lawns and gardens. The average homeowners consume over 35,000 gallons per year just to keeps their lawns green, and for all of you families living in suburbia, that amount is almost 45,000 gallons! After looking at all huge amount of water, a lawn that doesn’t need any water sounds very intriguing, don’t you think?

Synthetic grass and pets DO mix

Many of you who are thinking about purchasing an artificial lawn are wondering: what will happen to my new synthetic grass when my pets have to answer the call of nature? The answer to that question is nothing. Nearly all types of synthetic turf are porous; that means that your pets’ urine will just pass through your lawn and be absorbed into the ground beneath. This will not stain the individual blades of grass. When dealing with your pets’ feces, it can be easily removed just by using a pooper-scooper; just like any other lawn. With just a spray of a water hose, any leftovers can be removed without damaging your pristine Synthetic lawn in any way. Best of all, your pet’s waste will not damage the fibers. So now you can sleep soundly with the knowledge that your synthetic lawn will be safe from the ravages of your pets.
